If your idea of a caravan holiday is one spent in a tatty and cramped caravan park with the rain pouring down outside and nothing to do, think again, as caravan holidays have changed dramatically in the last few years.
Of course, you get what you pay for, and a top of the range caravan will cost more money, but you can still buy some great caravans at a very reasonable price. Designers have now got the layout down to a fine art and you can comfortably fit a family in a modern caravan.
Lunar caravans are often fitted with the latest technology such as a microwave, LED mood lighting and a cooling fan for those hot nights.
The pull down beds are plush and luxurious, far from the cramped and often smelly benches that we used to have to sleep on in caravans of old. The decor has also changed for the better and the ones which often reminded me of my grandma's lounge have now been replaced by caravans with a distinctly contemporary design with wood finishing and modern furnishings.
Entertainment has not been forgotten and many models have DVD players, satellite dishes, iPod docks and TVs – even internet connections if you want to surf the web on holiday. You can also get some amazing extras such as leather upholstery, designer fabrics, air conditioning and tinted windows.
