Every youngster dreams of backpacking their way around the world, whether it is dancing on the beaches of Thailand until the early hours of the morning or travelling around Australia exploring what this massive and diverse country has to offer. Whilst for many travel remains a pipedream due to the finances needed, others do manage to escape the nest and go travelling for a few months, either before they start university or before taking on a full time job.
But how do they finance this? Occasionally the parents will fund it in order to give their son or daughter the chance to see the world, but more often the teenager will manage to find it themselves through various fund raising activities.
This can include such activities as selling unwanted possessions in car boot sales or on the internet, or by getting a full time job for a few months before their departure. Once youngsteres have enough for the tickets it costs very little to actually live in these places, as accommodation and food is very cheap in much of Asia and South America.
If you make it as far as Australia then you are legally entitled to work if you are under the age of thirty. This means that you can try to pick up some work there to make ends meet and extend your dream holiday for a few more months.
If you find yourself in a position to go and explore a foreign destination such as Australia, it is advisable to grab the chance with both hands. Who knows, you may never get the chance again in your lifetime and there are so many places around the globe that are so worth exploring!
